Sacred Heart Ward Feast Celebration

The Sacred Heart Ward Feast was celebrated with great joy, devotion, and fellowship on 31 May 2026 at the residence of the Gurkar, Mr. Lancy Fernandes. All the families of the ward gathered enthusiastically to take part in the celebration.
The celebration began with a Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration in the Church, where the entire community participated enthusiastically raising their hearts and minds to the Lord.
The felicitation programme commenced at 6:30 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary. This was followed by an inaugural ceremony featuring a prayer dance and the lighting of the traditional lamp, symbolizing gratitude and faith.
The Parish Priest Rev. Fr Robert Dsouza, along with the dignitaries present on the stage, paid homage to the Sacred Heart of Jesus by offering flowers to the statue.
The ward Gurkar, Mr. Lancy Fernandes warmly welcomed the Parish Priest, the Sisters, the Vice President and Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, the Coordinator of the 22 Commissions, the SCC Coordinator, ward members, and other guests. The dignitaries were honoured with roses as a token of respect and appreciation.
The Ward Secretary Mrs Sylvia Moras presented a detailed annual report highlighting the various activities and achievements of the ward during the year. Several games were organized during the gathering, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere. The winners were awarded prizes by the Parish Priest.
A special felicitation programme was held to honour the little children of the ward, senior citizens, members above 70 years of age, and the senior most married couples, recognizing their valuable presence and contributions to the ward community.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, the SCC Coordinator, Cluny Convent superior Sr. Narcissa and the Parish Priest appreciated the ward's spirit of unity, cooperation, and Christian fellowship. They commended the ward members for their active participation and exemplary community life.
The celebration continued with general games conducted for all the participants, followed by a delightful dance performance presented by the children of the ward, which added colour and joy to the occasion.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by the Ward Representative. The Parish Priest then blessed the food, and all present shared a fellowship meal together, bringing the memorable celebration to a joyful close.
The feast was a beautiful expression of faith, unity, gratitude, and community spirit, strengthening the bonds among all the families of the ward.
